COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DISPENSER, GUMMED TAPE (AUTOMATIC TYPE)
The General Services Administration, Office Supplies and Paper Products Commodity Center, New York, NY 10278, has authiorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GG-D-450, which has been cancelled.
This description covers gummed tape dispensers which dispense water activated tape at preselected lengths and are suitable for general stripping room use.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
Tape Dispensers shall:
A. Have the compatibility to moisten and automatically cut tape at a preselected length without binding against any part of the dispenser. Tape shall be fed by a manually operated lever.
B. Have a selection device with no less that 11 settings in any combination of 2-, 3-, or 4-inch increments and ranging up to the full stroke length of not less that 30 inches.
C. Dispense a continuous piece of tape of any length greater than the full stroke length with repeated partial strokes of the operating lever.
D. have a firmly seated shear-type or guillotine-type metal blade suitable for manually cutting moistened gummed, regular or reinforced tape eithout wrinkling or tearing unevenly. Blade shall have guard for operator protection during use.
E. have a visible, auxiliary water supply and mechanism for regulating the water flow to the gummed tape. Amount of water shall meet guidelines established by the tape manufacturer for optimal sticking.
