Wheels. The wheels shall be designed to revolve easily and smoothly when the locking device and extension studs are securely tightened. Spring tension clips shall be permanently attached to the wheels. The clips shall be designed for holding rubber stamp handles with a holding area diameter of 12.7 + 3.18 mm (1/2 + 1/8”). The rack shall have the number of wheels indicated for the respective capacities.
Extension studs. The extension studs shall have a minimum cross sectional diameter of 9.53 mm (3/8”) and shall be of sufficient length to provide a minimum distance of 7.30 cm (2-7/8”) between wheels, and between the bottom wheel and base.
Locking device. The locking device shall be designed to hold the top wheel in place, and shall lock tight against the shoulder of the stud when tightened.
Type II rack. The type II rack shall be designed for fastening to a flat vertical surface with screws. Two appropriate wood screws shall be furnished. The rack shall consist of 9 tension clips permanently attached to a flat metal strip which shall have a hole at each end. The strip shall be 30.48 + 2.54 cm (12 + 1”) in length, not less than 11.11 mm (7/16”) in width, and not less than 2.38 mm (3/32”) thick. The clips shall be designed for holding rubber stamp 5 handles with a holding area diameter of 12.7 + 3.18 mm (1/2 + 1/8”).
Finish and color. The spring tension clips shall be bright nickel or chrome plated. Stainless steel, if used shall have a No.4 general purpose polished finish. Unless made of corrosion resistance material, the other parts of the rack shall be bright nickel or chrome plated, or shall have a gray baked enamel finish. The enamel finish shall level out to produce a uniform surface and color without runs, grit, areas of thin film, chips, flaking, and cracks.
Identification marking. Each rack shall be marked with the manufacturer’s name or trademark of such known character that the source of manufacture may be readily determined.
Materials. The base, wheel(s), and stud(s) of the type I rack, and the flat strip of the type II rack shall be metal suitable for finishing as required. The locking device for the type I rack may be fabricated of metal or plastic. Spring tension clips for type I and II racks shall be full hard cold-rolled steel not less than 0.64 mm (0.025”) in thickness and shall retain its shape and spring tension after being formed.
