COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INK, STAM PAD
This Commercial Item Description is approved by the Commissioner, Federal Supply Service, General Service Administration for use by all Federal Agencies.
1. Scope: This commercial item description covers quick-drying ink for use with rubber-stamp inking pads
2. Classification:
Type I For Fabric, Foam Latex Rubber, and Foam Plastic Pads
II Foe Wooden Pads
3. Salient Characteristics:
3.1 Type I. Quick drying ink for fabric, foam latex rubber, and or foam plastic pads shall meet the requirements of the drying time, and stability tests.
3.2 Type II. Quick drying ink for wooden pads shall dry promptly by absorption without spreading and shall meet the requirements of the drying time, stability, and effect on rubber stamp tests.
3.3 The ink shall be furnished in the following colors: Black, Blue, Green, Red, and Purple also in containers of the following proportions: 29.6 cm3 (1 fl oz.), 59.1 cm3 (2 fl oz.), 118.3 cm3 (4 fl oz.) or 236.6 cm3 (8 fl oz.) and cans containing four or eight fluid ounces.
3.4 The inks used shall be specifically used on stamp pads manufactured in accordance with commercial item descriptions A-A-207 and A-A-1383.
3.5 Applicators. The applicator, if required, shall be capable of mechanically distributing ink to the appropriate pads without damaging the pad, applicator, or soiling the user according to normal commercial practice. Inks furnished in 118.3 cm3 (4 fl oz.) or 236.6 cm3 (8 fl oz.) containers shall be fitted with applicators designed to distribute both limited and directed flow ink to the pad.
