COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TRIMMER, PAPER, DROP KNIFE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all federal agencies.
1. Scope: This commercial item description covers paper trimmers that are intended to be used for cutting single and multiple for cutting and multiple sheets of various types of paper.
2. Classification:

3. Salient characteristics:
3.1 The trimmer shall be portable, right-hand operated and designed to have a horizontal, rigid, slow burning or non-flammable cutting blade which will not warp or crack with age or typical use. The cutting table shall be marked with a grid of 12.7 mm (.5”) squares.
3.2 The trimmer shall have a blade stop to prevent the movable blade from rotating beyond its useful stroke and be permanently fixed in position so that impact will not damage the function of the element and be stable when used on a flat surface and not mar the surface on which it rests.
3.3 The trimmer shall have cutting blades with hardened edges capable if maintaining sharpness for the term of warranty or a minimum of one year.
3.4 The trimmer shall have an arm stop to prevent the movable blade from dropping below the locking point and a device which will lock the movable blade in the down position.
