COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

DISPENSER, PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE

(COUNTER TYPE FOR 2.54 cm (1INCH TAPE))

1. SCOPE.             This description covers counter top manually operated tape dispensers which are used to dispense pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.

2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

2.1 Tape dispensers shall be capable of dispensing single or multiple rolls of tape with the following dimensions:

2.2 Have a firmly attached, serrated or corrugated metal blade suitable for manually cutting pressure-sensitive tape.

2.3 Have at least 1.6 cm (5/8 inch) in diameter between a full roll of tape, the dispenser body, and the tape holding platform to allow the extended tape to be easily grasped and detached.

2.4 Have either a revolving reel of sufficient diameter to hold the tape roll securely during operation, or a non-revolving drum which permits the unhindered revolution of the tape roll around it.

2.5 Have a body constructed of a commercially appropriate metal, or less than .8 mm (1/32 inch) thick, or a commercial appropriate plastic capable of meeting the performance requirements of this document.

2.6 Have feet or a rubberized base permanently attached to the bottom of the body to prevent any damage and marring of work surfaces (e.g. wood, glass or metal). Feet/base shall provide lateral stability.
