C. Testing.
(1). Performance Test (Class A). Using bond paper with the basis weight of 75g/m2 (20 lbm, 17” X 22”- 500), this test shall demonstrate the capability of each stapler to consistently clinch 2 and 20 sheets when using staples conforming to A-A-1019, Class A. The anvil shall be adjusted to form a standard clinch and the stapling operation shall be done 100 times with 20 sheets of paper to produce a standard clinch. Then, the anvil shall be adjusted to form a pin clinch and the operation shall be repeated 10 times with 2 sheet of paper and 10 times within 20 sheets of paper. For each set of 100 tests, at least 95% of operations shall conform to the requirements set forth in paragraph 2.C, herein in order to pass the test.
(2) Performance test (Class B). Using a spool of staple forming wire, in accordance with A-A-1019, Class B, staple 2, 6, and 16 sheets of 60g/m2 (16-lbm, 17” X 22”-500) bond paper. For each of the three test, 20 staples shall be used. At least 95% of operations shall conform to the requirements set froth in paragraph 2.C herein, in order to pass the test.
(3) Performance Test (C). Using staples in accordance with A-A-1019, Class C, Staple 2, 6, and 16 sheets of 60g/m2 (16-lbm 17” X 22”-500) bond paper. For each of the three tests, 20 staples shall be used. At least 95% of operations shall conform to the requirements set forth in paragraph 2.C. herein, in order to pass the test.
(4) Hardness Test. Rockwell hardness shall be tested as specified in ASTM E 18. Certificates of compliance are acceptable.
