COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STAPLER, PAPER FASTENING, STANDARD AND LIGHT DUTY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. SCOPE. This descripption covers standard and light duty desk top staplers which are used for clinching and tacking paper. The staplers shall be of the following Classes, as specified.
Class A- Desk type stapler, standard duty.
Class B- Desk type wire-spool stapler, light duty
Class C- Desk type stapler, light duty
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Construction.
Class A. The stapler shall be designed for desk top operation and shall accommodate a staple strip consisting of no less than 210 commercial ”standard duty” preformed staples in accordance with CID A-A-1019, Class A. The stapler shall have a throat depth of not less than 7.6 cm (3”). The stapler shall be permanently marked with the name or trademark of the manufacturer. The color of the stapler shall be as specified, or, if not specified, in accordance with normal commercial practice. Resilient pads shall be fitted to the base to protect desk tops. The stapler shall convert to a tacker without the use of tools. The clinching anvil shall be adjustable without tools to form the standard clinch, or the pin clinch as specified on the next page:
