MARKER, ASSORTMENT, TUBE TYPE
(DRY-ERASE)

This Commercial Item Description is approved by the Commissioner, Federal Supply Service, General Services Administration for use by all federal agencies.

1. Scope: This commercial item description covers tube type capillary action, bullet shaped felt, solvent based, tip markers used for white boards and other smooth or laminated surfaces. Ink is non-toxic and wipes clean with a dry cloth or tissue.

2. Salient Characteristics:

2.1 The marker ser (4 each) shall be constructed so as to prevent evaporation and leakage of the ink and shall be equipped with a protective cap or plug, which shall indicate the color of ink and shall consist of the following colors: Black, Blue, Red, and Green.

2.2 The overall length of each marker shall be not less than 13.2 cm ± .5cm (5.2 inches ± .2 inch) and a diameter of 1.2cm ± .5 cm (.5 inches ± .2 inches) and shall contain a minimum of 1.5 to 2 grams of ink.

2.3 Metal or plastic used shall be of a material appropriate for the intended purpose and when use externally shall be suitable for coating as a decorative finish.

2.4 The writing tip shall be conical shaped (2mm to 4mm size) and shall contain a pigmented, non-toxic ink which shall produce no offensive odor and conform to ASTM D4236 or D236.

2.5 The ink shall be fed to the tip by capillary action and shall produce solid lines which will wipe off melamine, porcelain glass, smooth metal and most clear laminates with a dry cloth or tissue.

2.6 Workmanship. The marker shall be free from defects or imperfections of manufacture which may affect their durability, appearance, serviceability or present a hazard to the user.
