COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STAPLER, PAPER FASTENING, STANDARD DUTY, LONG REACH
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial
Item Description.
1. SCOPE: This description covers standard duty, desk
top, long reach staplers, used for clinching paper.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Construction. The stapler shall be designed for desk operation and
shall accommodate a staple strip consisting of no less than s210 commercial
“standard-duty” preformed staples in accordance with CID A-A-1019, Class A. The
stapler shall have a throat depth of not less than 30 cm (12”) and be furnished
with an adjustable depth gauge. The stapler shall be permanently marked with the
name or trademark of the manufacturer. The color of the stapler shall be as
specified, or, if not specified, in accordance with normal commercial practice.
Resilient pads shall be fitted to the base to protect desk tops. If a plastic
or rubber decorative cap is added, it shall have toughness, resilience, and
ability to withstand shock. The clinching anvil shall be a separate unit
permanently riveted to the base, and shall be able to form a standard clinch,
as specified below:
Standard Clinch. The standard clinch is represented
by a staple driven home through two sheets of paper. Each leg shall be folded
under so the tips of each leg face inward towards each other. Further, each tip
shall be in a downward slope back toward reentering the paper.
