5.4 Machine Write Test. The machine tests shall be conducted on a Anja model W-10A, Hartley model W10-F or Minitek writing test machines or equivalent capable of testing pens or refills, with the following parameters set:
Writing Load: 0.981 N (100gF) to 1.225N (25gF)
Writing Angle: 60 degrees to 90 degrees (continuously varying)
Writing Speed:670 cm plus or minus 10.0 cm/in
Writing Pattern: Ellipse
Select the marker tested and amount in writing position on the machine. Set the machine speed at 3352.8 mm (11 feet) per minute and the writing pressure at 50 grams. Operate the apparatus, stopping for a 15 minute recuperation period after each successive 91,440.3 mm (300 feet) of writing. Continue until the distance requirement is met or the marker fails to produce a solid continuous line 0.38 mm (0.015 inches) to 1.27 mm (0.05 inches0.

6.1 Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking shall be specified in the contract or order.
