A-A-2356 Case, Filing, Transfer, (Collapsible)This description covers transfer filing cases of the collapsible, vertical, open-end type, with a telescopic inner binder having a removable lock-arch paper holder with a compressor.

2.4 Steel wire. The steel wire shall be plain carbon steel and shall be plated with nickel, zinc, or chromium.

2.5 Sheet steel. The sheet steel shall be plain carbon steel, hot or cold rolled, at the option of the manufacturer. The sheet steel shall be plated with nickel, cadmium, zinc, or chromium.

2.6 Outer case dimensions. The inside dimensions of the outer case shall be as specified in the following table. A plus or minus tolerance of 0.635 cm (1/4-inch) will be permitted.

2.7 Design and construction. The transfer filing cases shall be made of the material described and shall be of the dimensions stated in the table. The case shall consist of a collapsible outer case and a collapsible telescoping inner binder. The inner binder shall be equipped with a removable lock-arch paper holder with a compressor.

2.8 Arch paper holder. The arch paper holder shall have a metal base with two metal arches attached thereon and spaced on 7-cm (2-3/4-inch) centers. Each arch shall have a movable and fixed portion. The movable portion shall be J–shaped wires not less than 0.32 cm (1/8 inch) in diameter. The fixed portion shall be not less than 0.48 cm (3/16 inch) in diameter, of tubular construction with tops cut back to receive the ends of the movable arches. The arch paper holder shall be attachable to the metal plate attached to the inner binder.
