COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOLDER, TELEPHONE RECEIVER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. SCOPE: This commercial item description covers attachable shoulder telephone receiver holder intended to enable the user to balance the telephone receiver during calls, thereby feeing both hands.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
2.1 The holder shall be black.
2.2 The holder shall be made of commercially acceptable high impact plastic, a suitable corrosion resistant metal, or a combination of both. It shall be designed to fit standard telephone receivers.
2.3 The holder shall be constructed of a receiver holder and a shoulder cradle. The two pieces shall be joined by a screw or commercially appropriate fastening device. The device shall be receded in the padding.
2.4 The shoulder cradle shall be lined on the underside with a protective cushioning pad made of rubber, sponge or commercially appropriate material capable of meeting all requirements of this CID. The cushioning pad shall be no less than 0.125 inches thick.
2.5 The shoulder cradle shall be curved in accordance with normal commercial practice to provide a balance fit on the user’s shoulder.
2.6 The holder shall be adjustable to allow3 maximum balance on the user’s shoulder.
2.7 The holder shall have a fastening device to provide a secure attachment to the telephone receiver. The fastening device shall be designed so as not to mar or damage the telephone or the holder.
