Commercial Item Description
1. SCOPE: This commercial Item Description covers distributor racks which provide a series of open vertical filing compartments.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Construction. The distributor racks shall be the vertical type with 40.6 cm (16”) nominal filing capacity (8 compartments). The racks shall be fabricated of metal.
Configuration. The racks shall consist essentially of a base and dividing partitions which form a series of open vertical compartments. The dividing partitions may be stationary or designed to allow removal or adjustment to vary the number of size of compartments. The base shall be in one piece and shall be provided with attached rubber, cork, felt, or other suitable type feet, or manufactured in such a manner as to preclude the possibly of scratching or marring the surface under the rack. The racks shall rest firmly on a flat surface and shall be sturdily constructed and sufficiently rigid.
Metal. The metal shall be commercial quality cold rolled steel, except for dividers which may be steel wire. The metal shall be bright, smooth, free from rust, scale, pits, scratches, crimps, and buckles.
