COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FILE, WORK ORGANIZER, POCKET
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all federal agencies.
1. Scope. This commercial item description covers pocket type (bellows) work organizer files which are suitable for filling 21.6 x 27.94 cm (8 1/2 x 11 inches) sheets of paper.
2. Classification:
Type I. Contains not less than 20 pockets legibly indexed from A to Z.
Expandable to not less than 38.1 cm (15 inches).
II. Contains not less than 31 pockets legibly indexed from 1 to 31
Expandable to not less than 55.9 cm (22 inches).
3. Salient
Characteristics:
3.1 The minimum inside dimensions of each compartment shall be 24.4 cm x 30.2 cm (9 5/8 x 11 7/8 inches) with openings along the full expendable depth. All folds shall be made neatly and accurately.
3.2 The minimum thickness of the gussets shall be .190 mm (0.0075 inch). Gussets tops shall be reinforced by strips by starch filled or resin coated woven tape along the full expendable depth.
3.3 The minimum thickness of the partitions shall be .254 mm (0.010 inch). Partitions shall be securely affixed along the height of the gusset using a good commercial quality adhesive which is suitable for maintaining the serviceability of the file.
3.4 When specified in the contract or order, the file shall have a flap which encloses the open end.
3.5 Workmanship. The file shall be free of dirt grease spots, holes, tears, wrinkles, and any other defects which affect appearance or serviceability.
