COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PADS, DESK
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description all Federal Agencies.
Scope: This commercial item description covers desk pads which are used as alternative writing surfaces on a desk.
Salient Characteristics:
All type pads shall have wearing surfaces with a backing material. The smoothness of the wearing surface shall be comparable to desk top linoleum. The exposed side of the backing material used shall have anti-skid qualities or materials normally used for the intended purposes. These materials shall not cause a permanent-type bond between the pad and desk. The sizes and colors shall be as specified in the contract or ordering data.
The wearing surface alone shall be 0.1 cm (.039 inch)+5% with an overall thickness (wearing surface and backing material) for each size of 0.2cm (.080 inch)+5%.
A residual indentation shall not exceed 12% when a 22.7 kg (50 lb.) load is applied to felt-backed pads or when a 36.3 kg. (80 lb) load is applied to burlap-backed pads. The indenting cylinder shall be .64cm (.250 inch) diameter and time of application shall be 15 minutes.
