COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FRAME, FILE DRAWER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description by all Federal Agencies.
1. Scope: This commercial item description covers letter and legal size file drawer frames which are used to support suspended file folders in desk drawers and file cabinets.
2. Classification.

3. Salient Characteristics:
3.1 The file drawer frames shall be made of rigid, corrosion resistant material which shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall be easily assembled, either with the use of a common screwdriver and pliers or without the use of tools.
3.2 The side rails of the frame shall be designed to promote sliding of the folders and shall be “snap-off” notched in .5 cm to 25.5 mm (1/2 to 1 inch) increments to adjust the length of the rails from 33.02 to 68.580 cm + .317 mm (13 to 27 + 1/8 inch) so that frames shall be compatible with desk drawers varying in depth from 33.02 to 68.580 cm + 317 mm (13 to 27 + 1/8 inches).
3.3 The rails shall not sag or bend more than 0.6 cm (1/4 inch) when 11 evenly spaced suspended file folders, each holding 200 sheets of 60 g/sq.m (20lb., 17 x 22-500) bond paper are suspended from the frame.
