COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

HOLDER, NAMEPLATE, DESK, PLASTIC

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification L-H-580A.

This description covers nameplate holders intended for use on desk tops for holding printed or embossed plates.

Salient characteristics:

The holder shall:

1. Be made from a suitable, durable plastic which complies with U/L classification 94 HB of the Standard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials.

2. Be 9-3/8 + 1/8 inches long and have one or more channels suitable for holding a 9-3/8 x 1-5/16 x 1/16 inch strip of plastic securely at a 75 + 10 degree angle.

3. Be stable and non-marring when placed on a flat surface.

Workmanship. The holder shall be free of sharp edges, cracks, nicks, discoloration, roughness, or any other defects which affect appearance or serviceability.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.
