COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAD, DESK, PAPERBOARD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification UU-P-16.
Salient characteristics.
The pad shall consist of a paperboard back, two facing sheets and four triangular, artificial-leather, corner panels. The back shall be of hard, stiff paperboard; free from warp and not less than 0.115 inch thick.
The paperboard shall have a basis weight of not less than 318 pounds per 1000 square feet and shall have a minimum bursting strength of 230 points.
The total weight of finished artificial leather shall be a minimum of 6-3/4 ounces per square yard.
The pads shall be 19-1/4 + inches by 24-1/4 + 1/8 inches.
The color of the pads shall be style A-black or style B-brown.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered Materials. A minimum of 75 percent of the pad shall be recovered materials.
Packaging, packing and marking. The pads shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed with fiberboard boxes that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
