This commercial item description covers disposable fine line (tip) marking pens for use on labware items.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be fine line porous line plastic tip marking pens for use in laboratories on labware items.
Shall be one of the following ink colors (see “Ordering data”):
Black
Red
Shall use xylene base inks which are water and alcohol resistant. The inks shall be suitable for writing on both dry and moist surfaces (porous and non-porous) of most plastic glass, metal and porcelain labware items. The ink markings that are applied to such surfaces shall not bleed when subjected to water and alcohol during normal use. However, the ink markings may be removable from non-absorbent surfaces by a scrubbing action with soap and water.
Shall be in the form of porous plastic tip pens with protective caps that are held in place by a friction fir. The marking mediums in the barrels of the pens shall be released by capillary action through the porous plastic writing nibs.
Shall have sufficient ink capacity in each pen to produce on paper a continuous line or series of distinct lines for a total distance of at least 500 feet.
Shall produce fine line markings. Markings that are applied to labware surfaces by light to medium hand pressure shall produce lines that are not wider than 0.024 inches.
